The Top 10 Wedding Venues in St. Augustine

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

With brick-paved streets, horse-drawn carriages and an undeniable historic charm, it’s easy to see why the Nation’s Oldest City is one of the most sought-after wedding destinations in

America. A destination wedding in St. Augustine feels like a romantic step back in time, with

magical moments awaiting at the end of every cobblestone street. Fittingly, this coastal town has plenty of options when it comes to places to tie the knot. As a long-time resident and professional in the industry, I’m here to offer my expertise on some of the best St. Augustine wedding venues you can use for your wedding reception and/or ceremony.

Classy, historic and iconically St. Augustine, The Treasury on the Plaza and the Lightner

Museum make up the Treasury Collection. Both wedding venues live in the heart of historic downtown, establishing an insanely timeless presence among enchanting streets.

The Lightner Museum is an 1888 Spanish Renaissance Revival style building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For over 130 years, this St. Augustine gem has played hosts to the most regal celebrations in its indoor and outdoor venues. And when we say regal, we mean regal. See for yourself with a couple of films from First Sight Films at The Lightner Museum, featuring some out-of-this-world dance parties.

A short stroll towards the bay front will bring you to The Treasury on the Plaza, right in the heart of downtown. In 1927, the building originally opened as St. Augustine’s central bank (and the tallest building allowed in the city limits!) When you enter The Treasury today, you find a stunning, remodeled venue that embraces the elegance of the building’s historic past while providing the luxury of modern sophistication. But here's the real cake topper– when booking with the Treasury Collection, you’re not just getting a venue, you’re getting a whole team of experts on your big day. A trusted, dedicated event manager will work with you

and your wedding coordinator to ensure seamless event execution. They have a professional team that works on weddings full-time. On the day of your event, the venue provides on-hand support staff to greet guests, open doors, complete set up and maintain cleanliness.

The Treasury Collection team is simply the best. First Sight Films has not only captured multiple weddings at the venues, but we also created the commercials on both websites. The moral of the story is when it comes to St. Augustine wedding venues, the Treasury Collection’s dedication and expertise will guarantee a perfect wedding day, and we'll be there to make sure it's relived over and over again.

Located in the historic district of St. Augustine on the Matanzas River, The River House artfully blends old world charm with romantic elegance. Nestled next to quiet Lincolnville, no other St. Augustine wedding venue offers a four-star facility directly on the intra-coastal waterway. Enjoy an outdoor ceremony on the covered terrace, right on the water with a picturesque view of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Then move inside to The River House's elegant ballroom decorated with antique furnishings and a soft, muted gold and sage green color palette. Another huge plus– the venue has plenty of parking for your wedding guests, which can be hard to come by in downtown St. Augustine wedding venues. The River House donates a portion of their proceeds to the Council on Aging, a non-profit that

uses the venue as well.

Created in 2018, House of Assembly Events brought fresh, new venue options to Old Town St. Augustine– The Assembly Room and The Carriage House. The Carriage House is a rustic barn venue offering a completely different feel than you may expect. They include farmhouse tables and benches, stringed market lighting and a farmhouse porch in every event package. With exposed beams, large barn doors and a carriage-wheel chandelier, all your Pinterest barn-style wedding dreams will come true at The Carriage House. Just ask Olivia & Katie.

Located in the early all-brick two-story Art ‘n Motion building, The Assembly Room is an impressive 1900s industrial-inspired venue with modern amenities. The brick walls, handcrafted woodwork, exposed ceilings and expansive windows create a raw, yet polished setting to say "I do." If you’re looking to get truly unique with your reception, this is the place. Exposed brick walls make the reception hall reminiscent of Brooklyn, New York, and you can even customize an array of classic cars to display at your celebration. I was lucky enough to be there to capture Catie & Chris's reception, and let me tell you, it was quite the celebration.

With a historic courtyard featuring a regal oak tree in the center, The Oldest House Gardens is a romantic setting for a garden wedding ceremony. Brick walkways, arched stone terraces, grape arbors and coquina walls create a timeless backdrop for your big day. The spacious property also offers plenty of ways to customize your wedding and no shortage of photo opportunities. Surrounded by history and shaded by the stately oak trees, a ceremony at The Oldest House Gardens is a beautiful way to start your forever.

Rustic, yet spacious, The Tringali Barn boasts an impressive 7,000 square foot event space.

The venue includes 54 acres of land with a cozy red barn, two lakes, a fire pit, an outdoor ceremony area, a patio and two decorated suites for wedding parties. Their expansive outdoor area is paired with a spacious interior with high ceilings and an open floor plan, guaranteeing a beautiful wedding, rain or shine. Fusing Old Florida charm with modern amenities, this venue has plenty of great photo ops and offers an array of ways to customize your wedding.

Where location meets luxury, the stunning Casa Monica Resort & Spa sits right in the heart of downtown St. Augustine. This extremely high-class resort is a popular spot for couples to stay on their wedding night, overlooking the charming streets of St. Augustine and right down the street from the sparkling bayfront. The Casa Monica also offers plenty of options for your ceremony or reception! With a regal ballroom, expansive pool deck and private balcony, there are plenty of ways to say “I Do” in one of the most majestic St. Augustine wedding venues. Wedding guests can stay on-site at the resort and enjoy plenty of old city charm within walking distance of the venue.

Steps away from the Castillo de San Marcos and nestled under the second oldest sweeping live oak tree in the city, Colonial Oak Music Park is an absolutely enchanting St. Augustine wedding venue. Bursting with character and charm, The Oak’s lush garden features a stage for live music, an amphitheater with family-style seating, a full bar and plenty of catered menu options from the on-site chef. Located right off St. George street, this photogenic spot is beautiful even before it’s decorated.

Nestled in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, the Peña-Peck House is among the oldest colonial buildings in the city. It was originally built in 1750 for royal Spanish Treasurer Juan Estevan de Peña and occupied by the Peck family descendants until 1931. Today, the house’s rich history is kept alive by the Women’s Exchange of St. Augustine with daily tours of the structure, and the house garden sets the perfect scene for a charming, outdoor wedding.

The courtyard is buffered by elegant, thick shrubbery to provide seclusion from downtown, and elegant oaks and magnolia offer a canopy of shade from the Florida sunshine. The Peña-Peck House garden has multiple event packages, inviting you to celebrate your rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and/or reception in this quaint, historic spot.

Transformed from a 1966 auto garage into an intimate venue in 2016, The Parlor Room is a unique space with an eclectic vibe. The venue maintains a historic, industrial feel with the garage’s original arched ceiling, concrete floors, a salvaged marble bar and vintage light fixtures while also introducing a modern, trendy atmosphere. The revived, charming space comes with hardwood farm-style tables, wood folding padded chairs and an outdoor patio. From there, the creative options are endless to transform the space for your big day.

Located directly across from the historic bay front, The White Room is the only St. Augustine wedding venue to offer panoramic water views and downtown rooftop access. Built in 1888, the 1 King Street Building is packed with history and charm with original brick walls and Hart Pine floors. With three different venues inside the building, The White Room offers endless options for your ceremony and reception. Enjoy the classic, old charm of the Villa Blanca chapel, the grandeur of the Ballroom or the stunning views of the Loft & Rooftop. First Sight Films had a blast capturing Tracy and Paul's reception at The White Room. Have a look!
