Family: Where Life Begins and Love Never Ends

Updated: Apr 5, 2021

If you had a seat at the ceremony of Hannah and Adam's wedding, you would see a couple madly in love that had known each other middle school, standing in front of Adam's dad as he married them with their brothers and sisters on both sides. His dad quotes, "I've never in 41 years of doing weddings seen this arrangement - where the groom has his siblings on one side and the bride's on the other. Adam I know it speaks of what these two girls, Courtney and Casey mean to you, and Hannah I know it speaks to what these two guys, Mac and Luke mean to you. What an outstanding display of what family means."

When I showed up to Adam and Hannah's wedding, I was greeted by a Mediterranean Revival and Asian styled mansion surrounded by a variety of colorful flowers and shaded trees. The Sydonie Mansion, located on what was once a 9000 acre preserve, features 11 bathrooms, 13 bedrooms, fireplaces with beautiful wooden moldings, a castle-like spiral staircase, perfectly crafted courtyards, the most characterized boat-house I've ever seen, and a ceremony site overlooking old Florida.

It's a fairytale setting with endless opportunities for design, and it was obvious Hannah, Adam, and their families put a ton of time and energy into stylizing their wedding. Fairbanks Florist took Hannah's vision and executed it perfectly with colorful, soft-pastel displays that brought life to the museum-like experience of the mansion's interior.

Like any proper outdoor Florida wedding, Spanish moss hung from giant oaks and tranquilly moved overhead. The stone aisle led to a bohemian styled, wood arbor. The setting was earthy, quiet, and surreal. Time stood still for everyone there that moment.

The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour in the front courtyard, then a reception utilizing both the big covered porch in the back of the mansion and a big white tent covering the patio. Hannah's stunning wedding dress dancing below lights strung throughout the tent reminded me of a magical scene from Harry Potter.

It was a dream to be a part of Adam and Hannah's wedding at The Sydonie Mansion. Every moment with them was an absolute pleasure and I could tell they were on a very high frequency that day. I'm so happy I was there to capture it for them to relive because I know this is a memory that will be cherished by both of their families forever.

As always, I was there only as a calm observer with one camera and one backpack, carefully maneuvering to stay out of everyone's way as much as possible. Here is the result. I hope you enjoy it!
